While Jake Peavy had expressed an interest in the Red Sox a few weeks ago, the Red Sox, already deep in pitching, were not involved in the recent round of talks for the coveted Padres righthander according to a team source.
Peavy, according to reports by SI.Com and CBSsports.com and first reported by the San Diego Union-Tribune, is on the verge of being traded to the Chicago White Sox, but is pending Peavy's approval since he has a full no trade clause in his contract. Peavy would have approved a deal to the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves this past offseason, but it never materialized.
